With grateful hearts, we welcome Sir Joshua Paradero of Class 1983 as he returns once again to PCU MJCN for his annual mission of service. Each year, he faithfully comes home with a clear purpose to lead a medical and dental mission in the Philippines, bringing care, compassion, and hope to communities in need.

This year’s mission was held on May 7, 2026 at Green Valley Church in Don Remedios Trinidad, Bulacan, and at the Asian Center for Biblical Studies in Majayjay, Laguna on May 8, 2026. True to his advocacy, Sir Joshua ensures that every mission is partnered with churches, helping communities not only receive physical healing but also grow in gratitude and faith in God.

A meaningful highlight of this year’s mission is the active involvement of our PCU-MJCN students, especially the Class of 2027. They joined fellow PCU-MJCN alumni, as well as dedicated missionary doctors and dentists, all coming together for this noble and life giving activity.

The visit of Ma’am Ofelia Yambao Domingo, Class of 1967, has been a meaningful and inspiring contribution to both the school and the foundation. Her presence has greatly supported the foundation operations, from helping manage the kitchen, supporting student activities, warmly entertaining alumni and visitors, participating in strategic planning, and more.

Her dedication to serve in many ways reflects a life rooted in compassion and commitment. She continues to bridge generations by connecting older graduates with the younger ones, strengthening the spirit of unity and shared purpose within the school and foundation. Through her actions, she carries forward what God has started at PCU-MJCN, becoming a source of encouragement, hope, love, and joy to everyone she encounters.

We sincerely thank Ma’am Ofelia for generously sharing her time, wisdom, and heart in service. Her presence reminds us that true leadership is shown through humility, consistency, and genuine care for others.

Sir Eunice Diamante from Class 2006, together with his wife Melrose and their two sons, Koby and Noah, made a quick visit to the campus, a meaningful time to reconnect and catch up with life. It was a joyful moment as he visited his former nursing professors and classmates, bringing back familiar faces and shared memories.

He fondly reminisced about his alma mater, recalling the great experiences and happy memories both in school and in the dormitory. These moments played a big role in shaping him into a competent nurse, guiding him in his journey of service, from his early days in the profession to his current role as a cruise nurse.

He also expressed deep appreciation for the quality training he received and, more importantly, for the faith that was instilled in him during his college years at PCU-MJCN. It is a kind of faith that continues to direct his path, leading him to serve with purpose and dedication from glory to glory.

Moments like this remind us that the impact of PCU-MJCN goes beyond academics, forming not only skilled nurse professionals but also individuals grounded in faith and committed to service.

Ma'am Gerremae Bautista-Varias from Class 2011 made a visit to the halls of PCU-MJCN, but what truly stood out was her mini-me, her daughter Psalmuelle Grae, exploring the very place that shaped her mother’s journey. It almost felt like the campus was being visited not just by Gerremae, but by the next generation carrying her heart and memories.

Every corner of PCU-MJCN holds moments that Gerremae still feels: the learning, the growth, the friendships, and the faith that was molded along the way. It is a place that shaped her as a Christian nurse, a professional whose calling will forever and always remain part of her life.

Seeing her daughter tour the campus, capturing memories and photos, was a proud and heartfelt moment. It is a place she can now introduce with joy, a space filled with happy and busy college memories that continue to inspire.

Moments like these remind us how the spirit, faith, and legacy of PCU-MJCN are passed from one generation to the next. May more alumni follow this example, returning with their families to share the place that helped shape them.

Ma’am Rose Marie Silva-Sorra of Class 1978 took time to visit the halls of her beloved Alma Mater, PCU-MJCN, before returning to US. Representing her class after their recent reunion, she walked around the school remembering the moments when she was a student and how she was molded into a competent Christian nurse.

She witnessed the improvement of the school and dormitory, and expressed how this place remains sacred in her life and career. With a grateful heart, she supported the procurement of two bedsteads and tables for the residents of the dormitory—a gesture of love and support for the future nurses of PCU-MJCN.

In her Facebook post, she shared:

“After 47 years I had the opportunity to come back and visit Mary Johnston College of Nursing. This institution that has taught us that Nursing is a noble profession of love and service. Most of our instructors are not here with us anymore, but I am forever grateful to all of them.”

A big salute to Ma’am Sorra—for her life, her love, and her dedication to PCU-MJCN.

Mrs. Janus Ramos-Villaruel, Class of 2006, returned to the halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing, her heart filled with gratitude and fond memories. As a scholar of the Mary Johnston College of Nursing Scholarship Foundation, she began her journey by serving as a community health nurse under the Foundation’s TAPS Program—dedicating herself to bringing care to communities in need.

Her commitment continued as she joined the faculty from 2008 to 2020, sharing her expertise in Pediatric and OB-Gyn Nursing. She not only imparted knowledge but became a mentor and guiding force for many students who walked the same path she once did.

As she stepped back into the place that shaped her, Mrs. Villaruel reflected on her years as both a student and educator. PCU-MJCN remains more than just a school to her—it’s home, a place that will always hold a special place in her heart.

Ma’am Aireen Aguilar, Rev. Gemma Oco-Cruz, and Mr. Bernard Cruz returned to PCU-MJCN, bringing cherished photos of the late Adela Silao Dizon-Vigilia, Class of 1939. Their generous support last year made possible the renovation of the Yellow Guest Room under the Pintong Pamana Project—now a warm and welcoming space for alumni and graduates, dedicated in loving memory of Mrs. Adela. Their visit reflects how families of graduates continue to share their blessings, carrying forward the legacy and love of those who came before was an enduring reflection of God’s grace across generations.

Dr. Kenji Hennessy Abe, an esteemed member of the PCU-MJCN Class of 2008, recently revisited the halls of our alma mater, cherishing the meaningful memories of his time as a student at PCU-MJCN and as a nurse educator at Mary Johnston Hospital. Dr. Abe, who has gained nursing expertise and distinction in clinical practice, education, and research, embodies the high standards of education upheld by PCU-MJCN.

Despite his remarkable achievements, Dr. Abe remains deeply grateful to the institution where he first nurtured his passion for nursing. His return reflects the lasting bonds of friendship and the strong sense of family cultivated within our MJCN community, inspiring future generations of nurses to remain grounded and connected to their roots.

Sir Clifford Cajayon, a proud member of Class 1992, recently returned to the cherished halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. As he walked through the school and dormitory, he witnessed the remarkable progress and ongoing projects aimed at enhancing the lives of current and future nursing students. These projects include the Pintong Pamana Project, the Library Revival Project, and the Javalera Legacy Project. 

Despite his busy schedule, Sir Clifford took the time to support and celebrate the place that not only shaped his career but also where he crossed paths with his spouse, who is also an alumna of the school. His visit is a testament to the lasting bond in MJCN community, who continue to contribute to its legacy.

Ma’am Asuncion Sevilla Sanchez of Class 1970 is currently visiting PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing, her second home where she was trained to be a competent Christian nurse. During her stay, she has been reminiscing about her student days and the rigorous education and holistic training that shaped her life. According to Ma’am Asuncion, despite the strict training they underwent, she and her classmates owe their current lives to the education they received at MJCN.

She has captured beautiful photos of the school and dormitory, reflecting on the precious memories of her time as a student. She expresses her gratitude and commitment to continue visiting her beloved alma mater.

We are honored to welcome Jessica Vitug from Class of 2009 and Lullete-Tiu-Lariosa from Class of 2011 as they revisit the halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. Before their visit to the campus, both young alumni were invited to be guest speakers at Mary Johnston Hospital, where they shared their expertise in basic oncology nursing. Their clinical knowledge and experience in oncology at Philippine General Hospital provided invaluable insights to MJH nurses.

Jessica and Lullete's dedication to nursing practice and education is truly commendable. Their commitment to training the younger generation of nurses exemplifies the spirit of our alumni community.

Kudos to their unwavering dedication and passion for nursing profession. We are grateful for their continued support and inspiration.

Ma'am Thelma Quila and Ma'am Asuncion Sanchez, both proud alumni from the Class of 1970, grace the halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing, demonstrating their commitment by donating funds for new tables and chairs for our beloved PCU-MJCN faculty. 

For the second time, Ma'am Asuncion walked with Ma'am Thelma, reminiscing about their precious moments on the MJCN campus during their college years. They lived and learned, loved and laughed as nursing students. 

Ma'am Thelma fondly remembered the sweet memories associated with the pigeon box, where she received love letters from her diligent admirer, who is now her husband.

Their visit turned into a luncheon mini-reunion as they also met with Ma'am Lourdes Diaz ‘72, Ma'am Rosemarie Lucas ‘78, and the rest of the PCU-MJCN faculty.

Ma’am Lourdes Diaz from the Class of 1972 and Ma’am Rosemarie Lucas from the Class of 1978 visited the halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. They toured the dormitory and witnessed the room improvements under the Pintong Pamana Project. Capturing these moments, they reminisced about their student days living in the very rooms they helped to enhance.

"What is unique about our school is that we developed a long-lasting bond in the dormitory, treating each other as family and friends," remarked Ma’am Rosemarie.

During this memorable visit, Ma’am Lourdes Diaz also delivered a generous donation from the Class of 1980-5 year program, along with a scholarship donation from Ma’am Joy Basco and Dr. Vivencio Vinluan through the PCU-MJCNAA USA Foundation.

Lunch was filled with joyous conversations with other alumni, bringing back fond memories of their time as former nursing faculty at PCU-MJCN. They shared stories of how they inspired students to become smart and competent nurses through their teaching styles and enunciation.

Ma’am Lourdes was also eager to share updates about the 2026 international reunion, to be hosted by the PCU-MJCNAA Southern California Chapter.

We encourage all alumni to save the date: June 25-27, 2026. This reunion promises to be a significant milestone and a breakthrough for the PCU-MJCN community.

Engr. Francis Javalera Sy-Changco, a proud relative of Dean Librada T. Javalera, made a special visit to PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. During his visit, he pledged to continue the legacy of Dean Librada T. Javalera and his mother, Perla Sy-Changco, through an exciting new initiative called 'The Javalera Legacy Project (JLP),' which will be launched very soon. This significant mission promises to revolutionize the learning experience for our students and enhance the teaching methods of our nursing faculty.

Lydia Grospe-Hodai of Class of 1958 and Nena P. Grospe of Class of 1964, accompanied by their relative Celie Ancheta, graced the halls of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. With unwavering determination, Mam Lydia walked through the dormitory, visiting her sponsored room 322 under the Pintong Pamana Project. Reminiscing about their time as nursing students, they joyfully recalled the beautiful memories that shaped their faith, life, and career. These cherished moments, like having a second family, have endured long after graduation, creating a lasting connection and sense of home.

As they toured the dormitory, their happiness was palpable. Returning to the place where they were molded into God-fearing nurses brought back countless cherished memories.

Mam Lydia expressed her gratitude, saying, "I am so thankful because you continue the legacy of our Alma mater... It's nice to remember all the good and happy memories just like what is written on our MJCN hymn."

Sir Emerson Rabang, a distinguished alumnus from the Class of 2004 and former faculty member, recently made a heartfelt visit to PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing, strengthening his connection to his alma mater.

As a Christian nurse who has flourished within MJCN’s halls, Sir Emerson represents a generation of MJ nurses who honor their alma mater. His visit provides encouragement and motivation to younger graduates, inviting them to revisit the school and dormitory to cherish the values, friendships, and memories they formed.

Walking together, Ma'am Alpha Opulencia '74, Ma'am Annie Lopez-Liban '74, and Ma'am Emma Lopez '79, who contributed to the Pintong Pamana Project, take a special trip back in time at PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. They reminisce about the days of strict deans and teachers who instilled social ethics, teaching them how to be good nurses. They also recall the joyous moments in SBO and at sports events, especially competing in volleyball matches against other schools.

Visiting rooms 227 and 228, which they helped renovate, brings back memories. Room 227 was supported by the Class of 1974, while room 228 was sponsored by Ma'am Annie Lopez-Liban '74 and Ma'am Emma Lopez '79. These rooms hold cherished memories of their generosity and encouragement.

As they look at old photos in the PCU-MJCN mini-museum, they find their own class picture. It's a reminder of the good times they had and the legacy they're leaving behind.

It's heartwarming to witness the legacy of dedication and camaraderie passed down through the generations of nurses.

Selected graduates of the Class of 1976, including Ma’am Renalind Pasao Malabanan, Carol Cruz Olegario, and Ruth Avendano Lacanilao, along with Ma’am Blesilda Vidal Cruz Canlas from the Class of 1978, reunite at their cherished alma mater, PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. Amidst the nostalgia-filled halls of the memorable dormitory and the revered Javalera Academic Building, they fondly reminisce about their rooms and the firm guidance of their past deans and clinical instructors.

Their hearts overflow with gratitude for the happy memories and the evident improvements, inspiring them to pledge the renovation of the 3rd-floor Camba Wing dormitory hallways' ceiling. Their commitment to giving back exemplifies the enduring spirit of compassion instilled in them as competent Christian Nurses. Truly, they embody the essence of MJCN's hymn, "Through the busy years before us, thou shalt not be forgotten.”

Ma'am Rachel Forneas Satorre, a distinguished Magna Cum Laude graduate from the Class of 1972 at PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing, graced the halls with her presence, evoking cherished memories of her time as a student. Her visit is not only a delightful trip down memory lane but also a testament to the enduring bonds formed at MJCN under the guidance of Dean Gloria Lacson.

During her visit, Ma'am Satorre brought invaluable support from generous benefactors, including:

Descendants of Dr. Rebecca Parrish, founder of MJH and Mary Johnston College of Nursing, expressed heartfelt gratitude during their brief visit, receiving the exquisite Coffee Table Book of PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. 

Despite time constraints, the warm welcome extended resonated deeply, with Rebecca Parrish-Wright, the great-great-grandniece, conveying sincere appreciation: 'The Coffee Table book is beautiful! And thank you for the invitation to accommodate us. You have all made us feel like family already. I know why Dr. Rebecca stayed for 27 years!'

Reflecting on cherished memories, Ma’am Ofelia Tordera Yambao Domingo ’67, Ma’am Pearchie Sembrao ’88 alongside Dr. Jo Mari Sembrano, and Ma’am Myrna Sapinoso Andaya ’67 revisited PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing. Strolling through the Javalera (Academic Building) and Dormitory, they rekindled moments that shaped their journey.

Ma’am Pearchie fondly recalled Asbury Chapel, not merely for nurturing her spirituality, but also for her responsibility in its upkeep, a part of the Judiciary Committee's disciplinary action. This commitment molded accountability and now echoes in our lives.

Mam Myrna Sapinoso Andaya, along with her husband, and Mam Ofelia Tordera Yambao, both from Class 1967, embarked on a heartfelt visit to the PCU-Mary Johnston College of Nursing with a noble mission - to restore the old, beautiful Narra wood chairs. They also brought with them a precious painting, a forthcoming tribute to their departed classmate, Mam Goodwill Yap Mercado Lansang.

As they gracefully strolled through the dormitory, their smiles radiated the cherished memories of their college years. Under the wisdom and guidance of their former deans, they were molded into competent Christian Nurses - consistently punctual for their duties, deeply devoted to vesper and personal reflection, and embracing the special moments that profoundly influenced their lives.
